  22. ›1mDESCRIPTION›22m
  23.        ›4mInews›24m ›4mi›24mnjects an article into the ›4mnews›24m flow, installing it
  24.        locally and broadcasting it (if appropriate) onto the net
  25.        work.  The article is read from ›4mfile›24ms or standard input if
  26.        none.  ›4mInews›24m adds and alters headers, notably ›1mMessageID:›22m,
  27.        ›1mFrom:›22m and ›1mPath:›22m, deletes invisible characters, and appends
  28.        the  first  four lines of ›1m$HOME/.signature›22m, if any, to the
  29.        article, and then hands it to ›4mrelaynews›24m(8),  provided  the
  30.        newsgroup(s)  are  unmoderated.   If the groups are moder
  31.        ated, the article will instead be mailed to the moderators
  32.        of the moderated newsgroups in the ›1mNewsgroups:›22m header.
  33.
  34.        ›1minews›22m ›1mp›22m ›4mfiles›24m is exactly equivalent to invoking ›1mcat›22m ›4mfiles›24m
  35.        ›1m|›22m ›1mrelaynews›22m ›1mr›22m, where ›4mfiles›24m may be an empty list; there is
  36.        no  automatic  recovery  of  the  input file(s) in case of
  37.        errors, full disks or other  problems.   Normal  usage  is
  38.        ›1minews›22m  ›1mh›22m, which assumes the presence of at least ›1mSubject:›22m
  39.        and ›1mNewsgroups:›22m headers in the article.   ›1m-h›22m  tells  ›4minews›24m
  40.        that  the article starts with headers; otherwise it starts
  41.        with the article body.  ›1m-x›22m prevents transmission  to  site
  42.        ›4mexcludedsite›24m.   ›1m-A›22m  waits until enough space becomes free
  43.        in ›1m/usr/spool/news›22m.  ›1m-M›22m does nothing, for B news  compati
  44.        bility.   ›1m-V›22m  causes  ›4mrelaynews›24m to emit a log file line on
  45.        stdout after processing is complete, by  having  ›4mrelaynews›24m
  46.        not  redirect  stdout  and stderr to ›1m/usr/lib/news/log›22m and
  47.        ›1m/usr/lib/news/errlog.›22m  ›1m-W›22m waits for ›4mrelaynews›24m to complete,
  48.        instead of running it in the background and not waiting.
  49.
  50.        The  rest  of  the  options  are inherited from B news and
  51.        exist only for backwardcompatibility with  news  readers.
  52.        ›4mThey›24m  ›4mshould›24m ›4mnot›24m ›4mbe›24m ›4mused›24m ›4mby›24m ›4mhumans,›24m as they are equivalent
  53.        to adding the obvious headers, with two small  twists:  ›1m-f›22m
  54.        generates  ›1mFrom:›22m  ›4mFrom:contents›24m which generates a ›1mSender:›22m
  55.        ›4muser›1m›24m@›4m›22mhost›24m header if there is  no  ›1mSender:›22m  header  in  the
  56.        input,  and  ›1m-C›22m  tells you to use ›4maddgroup›24m for local group
  57.        creations and tells you what  to  feed  to  ›1minews›22m  ›1mh›22m  for
